The International Society for Sexually Transmitted Diseases Research

Digital ISSTDR Champion

The International Society for Sexual Transmitted Diseases Research (ISSTDR) is searching for digital ISSTDR champions. The purpose of having champions is to build a strong digital presence to enhance STD research, enhance promotion of the biannual World STI & HIV Congresses, and make STD messaging more inclusive. The group will create digital content for ISSTDR on a voluntary basis and interested individuals would have the opportunity to help with conference promotion on a consultant basis (including translation to Spanish, French, or Chinese and content creation). The group will focus on STD research, in line with the remit of ISSTDR and a broad notion of sexual health as outlined by the WHO.

Details about the ISSTDR digital media policy are available here. Criteria for selecting champions will include communications expertise (especially Twitter and LinkedIn), STD research experience, and capacity to reach under-served groups. We are particularly interested in applicants from low- and middle-income countries, early career investigators (degree in the last 10 years), and key populations (men who have sex with men, sex workers, incarcerated people, people who use drugs).

Selected individuals would serve on the Digital Subcommittee of ISSTDR for a term of two years, join one-hour meetings every other month, and contribute approximately 20 hours over the span of one year. If you are interested in applying, send a one-page CV and cover letter explaining how they meet criteria to Joseph Tucker at jdtucker@med.unc.edu. The deadline for applications is July 1st 2022.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me.

Thank you!

Joe Tucker, Fabian Kong, and Jane Hocking on behalf of ISSTDR
